The House of David traces its roots in downtown Guagua,
Pampanga. It was there that the "Man of the House," Ladislao
"Choy" Sibal David first established the foundation of
what is now the House of David Group of Companies (HDGC).
The year 1963 was HDGC's birthmark year, the time
when a young and pioneering Choy David opened the House of David
Pawnshop and Jewelry Store (HDPJS), located strategically at the
heart of the public market in Sto. Nino, Guagua, Pampanga. With
a Money Exchange License from the Central Bank, he set forth into
the booming money exchange market, reaching out to as far as Olongapo
City.
Ten years later in 1973, he would establish the House
of David Investment and Management Corporation (HDIMC), HDGC's flagship
company. Licensed by the Central Bank to receive inward remittances
and conduct door-to-door services, HDIMC and HDPJS forged ahead
into the money exchange business and ventured into partnerships
with foreign correspondents Marda Inc. dba and Amparo's Foreign
Exchange in Tamuning, Guam; Amparo's Foreign Exchange in San Francisco,
California and the Zenj Exchange in Manama, Bahrain.
It was also in the 70's that Choy David found his
way into banking when he joined the Board of Directors of Rural
Bank of Floridablanca, Inc.(RBFI), now known as Bank of Florida
(BOF). In 1971, he would assume the bank's presidency, as his eldest
daughter, Teresa David-Carlos took a seat in the bank's Board of
Directors in 1982.
As the new millennium loomed ahead, House of David went full swing
in diversification. Business ventures in real estate, construction,
entertainment and education were added to roster of HDGC.
As a manifestation of HDGC's willingness to share
its success with the community, the Davids---the family behind HDGC---established
the House of Foundation, Inc. HDFI acts as the arm of HDGC for various
outreach missions and charitable projects as part of its Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR). Very recently, it has inked a pact
with ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.'s Bantay-Bata 163 and the Barangay
Councils of Guagua for the promulgation of children's rights and
fight against child abuse. With the creation of the HD Family Circle,
it's hopes to ignite the spirit of volunteerism and the values of
caring and sharing fulfills its mission.
